Nuotrauka ZENIT [:en] Dr. Martynas Mockus, a project manager at the Lithuanian Institute of Law (hereinafter \u2013 LIL) Department of International Relations, gave a presentation in D\u00fcsseldorf, Germany on Lithuania\u2019s potential in the field of legal technology (also known as Legal Tech). Held for the ninth time, the Successful R&I in Europe 2018: 9th European Networking Event is one of the largest events for researchers, research managers and investors looking for new European Research & Innovation (R&I) partners for Horizon 2020 projects. The event gives considerable attention to research and innovation development in North Rhine-Westphalia, the most populous state of Germany. This year, there was special focus on Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Israel, the Netherlands and Poland. Lithuania wasn\u2019t left out either \u2013 the event was attended by 10 Lithuanians from organisations engaged in scientific activities and innovations. At the networking event, Lithuanians invited researchers, innovators and investors to collaborate in the fields of genetic engineering, electricity meter reading innovations and Legal Tech. According to Mr Mockus, interest was shown by event participants in the experience that LIL presented in D\u00fcsseldorf in implementing different scientific projects, as well as the ambitions of participating in prestigious scientific research funded by the Horizon 2020 programme in Europe. The area of legal technology also garnered attention, as did the network of European legal technology competence centres initiated by LTI. Dr. M. Mockus won over event participants with his work in legal ontologies, which allows for the use of artificial intelligence systems in law. The scientist said that in the next five years, this area will be one of the most promising fields of law and technology science and innovation. Dr. M.
