AN INTERDISCIPLINARY DIALOGUE AMONG INTERNATIONAL RESEARCHERS ON CHILDREN’S RIGHTS: PUBLISHING A COLLECTIVE MONOGRAPH WITH A FOREIGN PUBLISHER (VAIKAI)

The Research Council of Lithuania, under its 2025–2030 programme for implementing the Lituanistics Priority, has granted funding to the project “An Interdisciplinary Dialogue Among International Researchers on Children’s Rights: Publishing a Collective Monograph with a Foreign Publisher” (VAIKAI) implemented by the Law Institute of the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences. As part of this project, Springer Nature will publish an open-access collective monograph titled “Children’s Rights in Central and Eastern Europe: Comparative Analysis with a Spotlight on Lithuania” (edited by Agnė Limantė and Rūta Vaičiūnienė). The publication will provide an analysis of the state of children’s rights in the Central and Eastern European region, with a special focus on Lithuania.

This monograph brings together the expertise of specialists from various social science disciplines. It encompasses not only the fields of constitutional, civil, administrative, and criminal law but also addresses contemporary issues, challenges, and opportunities in the area of children’s rights in the 21st century. The monograph’s key strength lies in its comparative approach, which allows for the identification of regional challenges and best practices.

The aim of the VAIKAI project is to strengthen the interdisciplinary dialogue between Lithuanian and foreign scholars on the topic of children’s rights and to promote the dissemination of their latest joint research internationally by publishing the open-access collective monograph “Children’s Rights in Central and Eastern Europe: Comparative Analysis with a Spotlight on Lithuania.”

The planned book holds value not only from a fundamental science perspective but also from an applied research standpoint: it will offer evidence-based recommendations for policymakers and practitioners.
