Law Institute of the Lithuanian Center for Social Sciences researchers presented at a national conference of criminologists

On March 31, 2023, Vilnius University hosted the conference „Punishment in Labyrinths: Needs, Searches, Solutions“ organized by the Association of Lithuanian Criminologists and Vilnius University. Scientists, practitioners and representatives of public organizations gave presentations at the conference. Reports were also presented by researchers from the Law Institute of the Lithuanian Center for Social Sciences.

Researcher Dr. Mindaugas Lankauskas presented report about the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden (drugs) and, also, religion.

Senior researcher Dr. Rūta Vaičiūnienė together with her colleagues Vaidas Viršilas (Lithuanian Probation Service) and Ilona Michailovič (Vilnius University) gave a presentation on the topic „The need and possibilities of individualized work with persons who have been violent in the close environment“.

In his report, senior researcher Dr. Skirmantas Bikelis looked at the similarities between trying to solve problems with criminalization, harsh punishment, and using alcohol while dealing with difficulties, the institute's senior researcher, Dr. Salomeja Zaksaitė discussed the #MeToo movement in sports.
