The study defines the current situation of the implementation of Batterers Interventions Programmes (BIP) in the country; discusses the available institutional resources; identifies the challenges that appear in the process of BIP facilitation; analyses the experiences of BIP participants; examines the role of BIP in the context of a coordinated response to domestic violence, and articulates the directions for the development of the application of BIP.

Based on the findings of the study “Change in Domestic Violent Behaviour: Perspectives for Developing Work with Perpetrators at Institutional and Community Levels” (SMEAK), this publication not only presents the country’s situation in terms of implementing Batterers Intervention Programmes (BIP), but it also provides directions for the development of BIP application and makes concrete recommendations to the various stakeholders and institutions involved.

Crime in Lithuania and the perspectives of its prevention

This study is part of scientific research which was carried out together with the scientists of Mykolas Romeris University (A. Kiškis, R. Uscila, V. Justickis) since 2010. In the first stage of the research authors investigated the problem of assessing crime by the data of registered crime statistics and victim surveys. Also they created the model of integration of these data which is adapted to investigate and evaluate the crime problem in Lithuania.
